It can be difficult to be a parent – even when you know your child well and basically know what you want. Sometimes periods arise when everyday life is marked by conflicts, worries, or situations you are not quite sure how to handle.
Family counseling is for those of you who want concrete sparring on a challenge in your family life. This could, for example, be about your child's big feelings, conflicts, sleep, sibling relationships, setting boundaries, school or daycare life, or a period when your child is not thriving as usual.
In the conversations, we take as our starting point your child, your family, and the specific situation. Together we try to understand what may lie behind the child's reactions and what the child needs from you. At the same time, you will receive concrete perspectives and tools that can be tried out at home and adjusted along the way.
The goal is not to find one right way to parent, but to help you understand more about what is happening between you and your child, so you can become more confident about how to meet it.
A typical process
Parent counseling can be a single conversation or a shorter process, depending on what you need.
- We start from the challenge you come with.
- We examine the child's behavior, feelings, and needs.
- You gain new perspectives on what is happening in the family
- We find concrete approaches you can try out in everyday life
